The Sailing Club’s future

After an extended legal case, and a change in the circumstances due to the financial impact of the Towns Funding for Ashfield, the Club will vacate the clubhouse & site when our new extended lease comes to an end on 30th September 2022. Ashfield District Councel have stated an intention to redevelop the whole site and construct a new commercial Water Sports Centre on the land we currently occupy

About our Club

We are located at Kings Mill Reservoir just off the A38 - A617 Junction between Mansfield and Sutton In Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Kings Mill Reservoir, which is also a nature reserve, is an excellent small sailing water with nine marks allowing for a variety of courses for all conditions.

COVID-19 Restrictions

Whilst the current Coronavirus is still a potent threat to life, even though relaxations are now in place enough to allow resumption of Casual Sailing & Racing, we have to restrict activities in according with our Risk Assessments, which can be viewed by clicking the COVID-19 header above

RYA Training Centre

Learn to sail courses are normally run throughout the year and new members are always welcome. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, all courses for 2020 are currently suspended.

Model Boats

We are pleased to be associated with and to provide facilities for Kings Mill Model Boat Club

Mansfield Sea Cadets

We provide facilities for an active and vibrant Sea Cadet group who learn sailing, canoeing & boat handling

Club Facilities

The club has a clubhouse with kitchen, bar, wood burning fire & toilets. There is a separate changing room block with male & female toilets and shower room facilities.

Discover Sailing Sessions

Our normal sailing programme includes regular Taster Sessions for newbies who’ve never sailed before to try sailing, by crewing a double handed boat with an experienced club member at a cost of £20 per family per session. From there, there is the opportunity to get trained and qualified to sail through our RYA Accredited Training Courses.
